# LDC-E1401 — Language version is withdrawn ## What it means Language lines have a support lifetime: older lines are retired, and new sources must be written against a line the compiler still reads. A file that opens with a withdrawn language version is not reinterpreted under the new rules — history stays as written — so the check stops at the language line itself. The repair is an explicit move: update the language line and re-verify every result under the new version. There is no silent upgrade path. ## Example ```law language "law.core" version "0.1"; package demo.diagnostics version "0.1.0"; namespace "urn:law:demo:diagnostics"; entity Applicant; ``` ## Fix ```law language "law.core" version "0.2"; package demo.diagnostics version "0.1.0"; namespace "urn:law:demo:diagnostics"; entity Applicant; ``` ## Engine message The engine reports this in its own wording: ```text example.law:1:1: error LDC-E1401: language version "0.1" is withdrawn; migration report §266.1: DECISION-0372: law.core/0.1 выведена из активной поддержки. Исторические документы сохраняются без переинтерпретации; новые исходники и запросы 0.1 отклоняются. Миграция требует явного обновления до 0.2 и повторной проверки результатов. ``` ## Related - [LDC-E1402](/diagnostics/LDC-E1402/) — the companion check on the language line.
