# RESOURCE_LIMIT — A semantic budget ran out

## What it means

Not triggerable in a hermetic recipe.

Every evaluation phase counts its work — steps, grounds, materializations — against semantic budgets. When a counter passes its limit the engine stops with no partial result: a half-derived answer would pretend a precision the stopped computation never reached.

Budgets arrive as case options, and the scenario language sets none — the default run carries no limits, so no scenario input can exhaust one. If you meet the status in real output, read it as "the question outgrew its budget" and either raise the limit for the phase named in the message or narrow the question until it fits.
