# LDC-E5401 — Computed consolidation differs from the declared edition

## What it means

A revision edge says how one edition turns into the next: a list of
operations applied to the older edition must produce exactly the declared
newer edition. The compiler replays the operations itself and compares the
result with the declared text, fragment by fragment. When at least one
fragment differs, the compiler reports the first divergence and accepts
neither version automatically — the operations or the declared edition need
to change so both sides agree.
