# LDC-E1208 — Evidence block has the wrong shape
## What it means
Evidence travels inside a case as a fixed-shape item: every entry needs
a status carried by a plain word, a non-empty identifier string, and no
field written twice. A case that declares the same evidence twice, or
an entry missing its status, cannot be read as case input, so the
compiler stops at the offending entry.
The repair is to complete the entry: add the missing status word,
give the identifier a value, or drop the duplicate line. The passing
file below keeps the package the case belongs to.
## Example
```law
language "law.core" version "0.2";
package demo.diagnostics version "0.1.0";
namespace "urn:law:demo:diagnostics";
case Demo {
evidence Doc1: Text {
}
}
```
## Fix
```law
language "law.core" version "0.2";
package demo.diagnostics version "0.1.0";
namespace "urn:law:demo:diagnostics";
entity Applicant;
```
## Engine message
The engine reports this in its own wording:
```text
example.law:6:14: error LDC-E1208: case "Demo", evidence "Doc1": required status field is missing (§61)
```
