# LDC-E0201 — The sentence stops where the language does not expect it ## What it means After the reader stage, the parser groups characters into declarations: headers, entities, relations, rules. Each shape has a fixed skeleton, and a token that fits none of the skeletons stops the parse at that spot. The most common shape of this refusal is a small slip — a missing separator, a digit where a name must stand, a block left open. The reported position is where the expectation broke, which is usually one token past the actual slip. Read the line from its start: the missing or misplaced piece is just before the caret. ## Example ```law language "law.core" version "0.2"; package demo.diagnostics version "0.1.0"; namespace "urn:law:demo:diagnostics"; entity 123; ``` ## Fix ```law language "law.core" version "0.2"; package demo.diagnostics version "0.1.0"; namespace "urn:law:demo:diagnostics"; entity Applicant; ``` ## Engine message The engine reports this in its own wording: ```text example.law:5:8: error LDC-E0201: expected a name (entity name), found "123" ``` ## Related - [LDC-E0202](/diagnostics/LDC-E0202/) — a block the file never closes.
